Military Appreciation Luncheon

Wednesday, October 16th, the Norco Area Chamber of Commerce Military Appreciation Luncheon brought together more than 120 chamber members, community leaders, and active and veteran members of the military to commemorate those who have fought and are still fighting for our freedom.

Taking place at the Norco American Legion Post #328, the sold-out event hosted nearly 30 military members, including local Vietnam war and World War II veterans, as well as State Senator Richard Roth, California Assemblyman Eric Linder, California Naval Surface Warfare Center Commander Capt. Eric H. Ver Hage, Norco Mayor Kathy Azevedo, Council Members Kevin Bash and Harvey Sullivan, and local Vietnam war and WWII veterans

Guest speaker Senator Roth described the city of Norco as a “great jewel in western Riverside County” and gave a round of applause for America’s men and women in uniform.
Roth commemorated those who serve and said, “We have a moral obligation as a nation, state, region, and community to our veterans… In California there are over 19,000 homeless veterans and it’s more than a problem, it’s a disgrace… It’s time to fight back and preserve what we have… My hat is off to all of you in uniform… The sacrifices you [have made] most people in this room cannot begin to imagine. When the opportunity was granted to the audience to ask questions, Senator Roth made his stance clear on gun control and assured citizens that he can “[be counted on] to oppose gun regulation.

Throughout the membership meeting, several community announcements were made, including the grand re-opening of the McDonald’s restaurant on Sixth Street which is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29th from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Active and veteran enlisted military personnel enjoyed complimentary hot-dogs-and-apple-pie lunch, catered by The Hot Dog Shoppe and Polly’s Pies, courtesy of NACC and event sponsors County of Riverside Supervisor John Tavaglione, Circle City Roofing, Guild Mortgage, TSYS Merchant Solutions, and Howard Johnson Inn – Norco.
The next NACC Membership Luncheon is on November 20th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at The Original Pancake House, with guest speaker California State Assemblyman Eric Linder.
