The Chamber will provide a variety of services for
businesses and the general public including the coordination of a number of
activities and events. Among the services planned for the future are group
benefit programs, member-to-member service and pricing, and the development of
the City of Norco as a destination.
Always Buy Chamber
Imagine all Norco businesses making all of their purchases from each other. Talk about buying power! Now imagine the even greater effect of all 27,000 residents always buying from a local business. The Always Buy Chamber program will educate residents on the long-term benefits of buying locally.
The Chamber
of Commerce Buyer's Guide and Membership Directory will include information
about the importance of directing company and personal purchases to member
businesses.
The Always
Buy Chamber Retail Guide and Service Directory is published annually and
distributed to each household in the city. It is also included in relocation
packets and is on display at City Hall, Chamber Office as well as Chamber
members' businesses. Businesses and residents are encouraged to:
Refer to
the Buyer's Guide and Membership Directory first whenever making a purchasing
decision for your business or for yourself. Keep it on top of your telephone
book as a reminder.
Search the
Chamber web site for a referral.
Call the
Chamber office for a referral.
When we all
make a commitment to direct our collective buying power to one another,
everyone wins! Remember, improving local quality of life is as easy as
ABC...Always Buy Chamber!
Business Advocacy
Business
people are too busy to take time from their busy schedules to pay attention to
everything going on in the political arena. How many business people, for
example, can afford to spend the whole day sitting in a county commission
hearing? How many are able to incur the expense in time and money to travel to
Sacramento during the legislature to keep abreast of the hundreds of bills that
impact the general business community? That's why the Norco Area Chamber of
Commerce Business Advocacy program exists. We take care of politics so you can take
care of business!
The
Business Advocacy Committee monitors legislation that affects business and takes
action to protect business interests. The Chamber keeps the members informed on
current legislation pertaining to businesses by publishing commentaries and
researched recommendations in the monthly newsletter and on the web site.
The
Committee represents members with local, state and national government
agencies. Committee members assist businesses with working with the City on
compliance issues (permits, CUPs, improvement grants, etc.) and will speak on
behalf of businesses at City Council meetings.
The Chamber
continually advocates for an efficient, simple, and streamlined regulatory and
permitting system that makes it easier to start, expand, and operate businesses
while still protecting public regulatory goals.
Business On Guard
Keeping
Norco safe is essential for ensuring a healthy economy. In association with
local and state authorities, the Chamber will mobilize local business owners
and their employees to play a role in securing our community against both
foreign and domestic threats. By working together, businesses can help to
minimize common threats, such as counterfeit money, burglary, and identity theft.
Business Resource library
The
Chamber's Business Resource Library provides business with useful reference materials
at no cost. Materials include educational/reference publications from EDD,
SBDC, SCORE, IRS, and local government agencies. Business newspapers are also
available. City reference materials, such as agendas, minutes, planning/permit
info, are available for viewing.
Career Center
Member
businesses may post job opening information online and in the Chamber office.
Communications
The Chamber
distributes a monthly online newsletter and sends out faxes and e-mails to
share information with and among our members. Our regularly updated web site
also contains information about the Chamber and its events in and about the Norco
Area.
Equine Services Program
This
program promotes the spirit that makes Norco so special. Farriers, boarding
facilities, trainers, feed, tack, vet, and other service providers have an
opportunity to share ideas, opinions, problems, solutions, tips and tricks of
the trade with others that specialize in equine services.
Marketing Opportunities
The Chamber produces many events and advertising campaigns
to promote the Norco Area and its businesses. Businesses are encouraged to
advertise in Chamber publications and to sponsor Chamber events.
Relocation/Visitor Center
The
Visitor Center promotes and actively markets the Norco area as a destination
for visitors, a desired site for business investment and relocation, a great
place to live for current residents and the future workforce, and a producer of
high quality goods and services. The overarching goal for Brand Norco is to
focus on creating positive economic returns for the area and its businesses.
The
Chamber will launch a business recruitment ad campaign, working with the city's
Economic and Community Development Department and Area economic development partners.
The campaign will target CEOs via business publications, and national site selectors.
We
will provide residential and business relocation packets, visitor guides, maps,
event calendars, and souvenirs. Available publications may include:
